Course Description

Entomology is the study of insects. Insects are, by far, the dominant group of animals on the earth today, in both total number of individuals and number of species. They inhabit every part of the globe, from pole to pole, with the exception of the deep ocean. They possess exceedingly diverse and fascinating habits, such that they not only survive, but also thrive, almost everywhere. Insects are the world’s oldest survivors. They have existed on Earth for over 300 million years. Compared to insects, humans “have just arrived in the neighborhood.” Insects have weathered tremendous climate changes over the millennia, always adapting and coming out on top. In this course, students will learn all about insects!
